The Emotional Side of Losing Weight

Like most people I have struggled with weight almost all of my life. I can't really pinpoint when things completely went to crap but when I look back at middle school it wasn't that terrible, however, I can tell from pictures that I had started to gain weight. It's troubling to me that age I had already started to cope with food. 

In the middle of 8th grade I moved to a small town with my grandparents. I was a fairly active child at that time. When I moved to my grandparents I became bored very often and no longer enjoyed playing outside on my own. I had gotten used to having other children around to spend time with and play games, but at my grandparents I was alone. I love my grandparents to death, they are like a second set of parents to me, and they've shown me what a stable family is like.

Wednesday Weigh In

For those of you that know me you're quite aware of the fact that I've been sick since Saturday morning. I've been exhausted and barely able to breathe [not to mention on pretty much every pill I can think of to make it hurt less]. Luckily after weighing in today I've stayed at a stable weight [didn't lose or gain from last week]. I've been drinking lots of fluid and hope to be up and running tomorrow, literally. Then I'll hit the kettlebells and more than likely set up a workout plan! Hope everyone is having a much better week than I am

Progress

So Friday I had a goal to run 15 miles which didn't work out so well for multiple reasons. The biggest reason being i started to feel a tightness behind my right knee about 2.5 miles into my jog, and it continued to get worse. I decided that some cardio is better than no cardio [considering this time last week i wasn't doing any i've made progress], and decided to move on the kettlebells.

I decided to do swings, squats and tactical lunges and let me tell you that definitely kicked my butt. I woke up this morning and my legs were killing me, I definitely think this will be a better goal than tons of jogging. It takes less time and is more effective. 


Come Monday I'm going to give that a try with a 15 minute cardio warm up, stretching and then some kettlebell work. Once I get a program set I'll upload the plan so if anyone wants o try it on their own they can =)

The Day After

Well I'm not feeling nearly as sore as I expected to be but today was still a nice day off. Tomorrow I'll be hitting up the wii fit again and doing some more kettlebell work. This morning I could definitely feel some muscle ache in my calves from all the jogging with wii fit, and in my quads from the tactical lunges and swings. Nothing that a warm shower and lots of water can't help. 

My next step will be to start drinking water instead of snacking. Lots and lots of ice cold water. I might start keeping track of that as well, who knows. Another goal is to actually reach my daily goal of 15 miles jogged every day. 
Also I'm going to make an outline of "Rewards" that I can give myself for reaching milestones.

Starting Over

Wow it has been forever since I've had the time and motivation to work out. Fortunately I've decided I better get back at it. Since I'm at home all day it seems like the best use of my time. I'm currently at 290 lbs which is quite depressing. I've gotten a tummy and even more thighs but I do have a fair amount of muscle mass so I'm just hoping that by eating right and getting back in the habit of working out I'll be able to shed some pounds. Wednesdays are now weigh in days!

Weigh In

So I just wanted to update everyone. I just weighed in and I'm at 263. So I'm down 2 lbs so far this week, and I haven't even worked out! It's amazing what finally being able to have good food in the right portions can do!

Getting Back In Gear

So those of you who actually care about this blog and my progress know that I haven't done anything for quite some time. I find it difficult to work out at my home gym and really do need the atmosphere of a large gym. I'm more motivated if I have to drive there. If I drive there I do a longer work out, and I tell myself it would be a waste if I didn't work hard.

I'm going to be blunt and honest because that's what this is really about. I haven't worked out pretty much all week, but I've cut my portion sizes and I've lost 5 lbs. Besides that good news I'll be getting a gym membership soon.

The Britney Spears Workout

The focus of the Britney Spears Circuit workout routine is to burn excess fat in the midsection, arms and thighs. What I have set up is a 7 day workout, however you should note that day 7 consists of only cardio and medicine ball work, which you can skip if you need a rest day.

Setting and Reaching Goals.

So if you haven't noticed I've added a section to track my weight loss progress. This section will be updated every Monday with new stats. I want everyone to know that weight is just a number, and being healthy is about more than what you weigh. If you're doing a lot of weight lifting and building muscle mass you won't lose as much weight, because muscle weighs more than fat.
